Ligia Torres
Ligia Torres’ professional experience expands over 30 years in the Financial Sector across Capital Markets, Wealth management and Asset management where she held operational, managerial and board positions covering LATAM, ASIA and EMEA.
At present, she is an Independent Non-Executive Director at the Board of EURONET Overseas International (listed company at the NASDAQ in the USA), Alfred Berg Asset Management in Norway, and chairs the Board of RAM, an alternative asset management company of Medio Banca Group in Switzerland. She contributes at these Boards particularly on the identification of strategies for growth, the reinforcement of their governance and risk & control frameworks, and on the design of their strategy in Sustainability.
The latest 20 years of her professional career were at the BNP Paribas Group where she handled the roles of: CEO of BNP Paribas Asset Management in Asia Pacific & Emerging Markets, CEO of BNP Paribas Wealth management in the UK, and various Global and regional managerial positions at the Investment Bank on Capital markets in Fixed Income (trading& sales).
At the Asset management division, she was member of the Global Executive Committee, and assumed Board positions at several companies to drive the strategic development of the Company in APAC: HFT (China), SHINAN AM (Korea), BNPPAM Indonesia, BNPPAM Australia), in LATAM (BNPPAM Mexico, Banco de Estado (Chile) and in EUROPE: FUNDQUEST (France), UK BNPPAM and TKB (Russia).
In parallel to her professional experience in the financial sector, Ligia contributed to the expansion of Microloan foundation a Social Microfinance Institution in Sub-Saharan Africa. She was a member at the Advisory Board and lead some investments and fund-raising initiatives with corporations and individuals.
Ligia Torres has a bachelor’s degree on Business Administration from the Instituto Tecnologico Autonomo de Mexico (ITAM), a bachelor’s degree on International Finance from HEC and a master’s degree on Financial Markets from the University of Paris Dauphine IX (France).
Linked to her interest on Sustainability and Governance, she followed the Oxford University program on Corporate Sustainability Leadership and the Non-executive Director program of the FT on Corporate Governance.
